Matthew Kirkby, CEO for the unit in Hong Kong and Co-Head of Investment Banking, will lead the 200 staff in Hong Kong by providing consulting services investment banking, equity and capital market fund procurement services, brokerage services and research.
Kirkby has more than 15 years of experience in investment banking in Europe and Asia, and has previously served as Head of Global Banking Asia Pacific business, which handles corporate banking and investment banking Royal Bank of Scotland in the Asia-Pacific region, including a debt capital market, capital market, equities and corporate finance.
"The potential in Hong Kong given the remarkable large area is one of the top financial centers in the world while the entrance to China," explained Kirkby.
Hong Kong and Australia (which has been inaugurated the work unit earlier this month) will be the two largest markets, CIMB Group outside the ASEAN region. After the acquisition of RBS investment banking business units in Asia Pacific completed entirely-is expected to end in 2012 then later – working area CIMB Group will cover 18 countries.
